Rapist constable dismissed in Pune

The 28-year-old married woman lodged a complaint with Saswad police station saying that her husband's friend had raped her, reports Satyajit Joshi .

Constable Ashok Pandharinath Gaikwad (39) was dismissed from service on Wednesday for allegedly raping a woman at Satalwadi on Pune-Baramati Road.

Gaikwad was in the military before he joined the police force. On Sunday, Gaikwad came to their house and promised her that he would purchase some household items for her at a concession rate.

"Gaikwad again went to the woman's house on Tuesday evening, entering through the back door.

He asked the woman to go with him to the field," said Assistant Sub-Inspector Sanjay Patil, who is investigating the case.

According to the complaint, Gaikwad again promised her that he would get her the household items next time and raped her.

The woman immediately lodged a complaint.
Ashok Gaikwad, a resident of Parinche village about 40 km away from Pune, was arrested. Gaikwad lives in Parinche with his family - parents, sister, wife, a son and a daughter.

Pune Police Commissioner Dhanajay Jadhav confirmed that Ashok Gaikwad was dismissed from the police force on Wednesday.
