This year, we will see Sikander Kher, Harman Baweja and Shraddha Kapoor (daughter of Shakti Kapoor) making their debuts. Also, Abhay and Kapil Chopra.
Just in case you’re wondering how they are related to the Chopras, well, they are producer-director Ravi Chopra’s sons.
Surprisingly, papa will not be directing their films but he will be overseeing the production. Younger son Abhay will direct older brother Kapil. The film, Kohinoor, is written by Kamlesh Pandey.
“The rest of the cast and credits will be confirmed once the script is finalised,” says Ravi Chopra.
Earlier, Abhay was to debut with a film called Mitti. Written by Prakash Kapadia, an associate of Sanjay Leela Bhansali, Mitti was a patriotic drama but has been put on hold for the time being.
Tricks of the trade
Abhay learnt about the craft at NewYork’s School of Visual Arts. His student film, India 1964, was nominated for the Students’ Oscars last year.
It featured his best friend and one of today’s hottest young actors Ranbir Kapoor. He later assisted his father during Baabul. Kapil has worked with Karan Johar on two films, Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham and Kal Ho Na Ho.
He has also assisted Aditya Chopra during Mohabattein and his father during Babul. He has studied acting at NewYork Film School.
