'Rang De Basanti,' India's official entry for Best Foreign Language Film at the Oscars, will also compete in seven other mainline categories at the 79th Annual Academy Awards to be held in February in Los Angeles.
The other seven categories are: Best Film, Direction, Cinematography, Screenplay, Editing, Art Direction and Sound Design. The film has been directed by Rakeysh Mehra.
"We have also applied in seven mainline categories but our focus will remain in the foreign language category," a release by the film's producers UTV, quoting CEO Ronnie Screwvala, said in Mumbai on Sunday.
When asked he denied reports that the Sanjay Dutt-starrer `Lagey Raho Munnabhai' was also in the fray for the coveted Oscars. "Only one film can be a country's official entry. `Rang De Basanti' is India's official entry. We are not competing against any other Indian film at the Oscars."
