Even as Anna Hazare ended his five-day fast-unto-death against corruption on Saturday, the youth of Gurgaon refused to let the fire die down just as yet.

Gurgaon resident Kapil Dhawan created an online stir by floating the idea of an 'economic hunger strike' on social networking site Facebook.

Within hours, around 8,700 people pledged their support to the campaign which is encouraging people to not buy any food items from outside for a single day on Monday. The idea is to give an 'economic' jolt to the government as it suffers a massive loss of revenue.

Creator of the event, Dhawan wrote on the site, "Not many people readily go on a hunger strike. Therefore, the next best thing is an economic hunger strike..."
