'Ready to support BJP if Bihar gets special status'

Bihar chief minister Jitan Ram Manjhi stunned the BJP with a political offer on Saturday.

“You give us special category status. I am ready to support the BJP”, he said, soon after Union minister for power and coal, Piyush Goyal had inaugurated the 110 MW renovated power unit at Kanti.

Manjhi, thanked the NTPC and the Union government for ‘all the help’ but said, “It would be of real benefit, should Prime Minister, Narendra Modi confer the special state status, which all have Bihar aspired to”.

“I am asking all the seven brothers in the Union cabinet (Union ministers) to tell the Prime Minister, that is what Bihar needs, he said.

Addressing the gathering, union minister Ravi Shankar Prasad announced installation of new software park projects at Darbhanga and Bhagalpur. He also announced his intention to start two centers of NIELIT at Muzaffarpur and Buxar of the state.

Union agriculture minister Radhamohan Singh along with ministers of state, Rajiv Pratap Rudy, Ram Kripal Yadav, Dharmendra Pradhan, Giriraj Singh and Upendra Kushwaha were among other dignitaries to address the occasion.
