Apart from well-known courses that offer civil engineering degrees and diplomas, a lesser-known aspect of real estate development is that there are schools, albeit not very well established, to groom people for the real estate industries. Here is a sample:
Yajnas Academy of Real Estate Management, Hyderabad
Two-year PG diploma in real estate management (full-time, part-time, distance) and a four-month certificate course
Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University, Delhi
Two-year MBA (real estate), with the classes held on weekends
Akruti Real Estate Institute, Mumbai
Two-year postgraduate diploma in real estate management
Indian Institute of Real Estate, Pune
Principles and Practices of Real Estate (PPRE), an online course delivered in modules. Each module has to be completed within 30 days from the date and time of receipt of a password. After each module, there is a case study / test and a minimum passing grade of 75 per cent is required to proceed to the next module.
Failure to complete and pass the case study / test within the 30-day limit will require that module to be taken again. The non-profit institute has been accredited by the National Association of Realtors of the US to offer certification programmes in India, at the end of which one gets the Realtor designation.
