Real weddings for reel celebs!
The beginning of wedding season would see some of the love birds of big and small screen exchanging vows, reports Princy Jain.india Updated: Nov 18, 2006 15:04 IST
The bride is ready and the groom is on his way to take her away. Sounds like script of a film or soap? But it is about real weddings — at least four couples from the entertainment industry are ready to tie the knot this season.
Perizaad Zorabian marries beau Boman Irani on December 7. No, he is not Lucky Singh of Lage Raho Munnabhai but a real-time real estate developer from Mumbai.
Essentially a Mumbai wedding, the food at the do will be served by Perizaad’s brother and other preparations will be handled by her friend-cum-business manager Shailja.
Says the elated bride-to-be, “I’m still in the Mills and Boon phase of my life and post-marriage, I’ll be playing house-house.”
Not far behind are the TV stars Gurdeep Kohli and Arjun Punj who will wed in true Punjabi style, on December 10.
Says Arjun, “The main ceremony will be in Delhi but we will throw a party for friends in Mumbai.”
Serial kisser Emraan Hashmi too will enter matrimony on December 14 with girlfriend Parveen Sahyani. “I don’t want the clichéd achkan-dhoti sort of marriage,” he says. The sangeet and mehendi will be held on December 12-13 and reception on the 15th.
Even Rajshree Thakur, Saloni of Zee TV’s Saat Phere, is tying the knot with longtime boyfriend Sanjyot Vaidya on February 7. Says Rajshree, “It will be a typical Maharashtrian wedding.”
Rumour mills are working overtime about Shilpa Shetty’s wedding to director Anubhav Sinha in February. But Anubhav’s reaction to the news was — “What date and what venue? Does she know about it? Arre, kaam karne de yaar!”
