Reality show helps kitty parties

Ladies, tired of following the usual format of kitty parties every week? Here’s something that will bring some kind of innovation to your ‘friendly chit-chat’ sessions. Kitchen Champion, the cookery reality show on Colors, enters its fourth edition today afternoon. This time, the show moves out of the studio.

The channel has designed a website that provides everything from fun and quick games and activities to some exotic yet simple recipes that can be rustled up for the girl friends coming over for a jam session of another sort. That’s not all. The website also provides you with a phone number that will not only help you catch up with the recipes you’ve missed during the noon show, but will also give you some extra recipes that weren’t part of the capsule.

There’s also a section where the chef-judge on the show, Gauti, gives you tips to speed up work in the kitchen, including preparing striking garnishes, adding the X-factor to regular food items and using common ingredients in the kitchen to rustle up something exciting and innovative that can be relished in between spicy conversations.

Ashvini Yardi, head of programming, Colors, the channel broadcasting the show, admits that the idea came from the lakhs of emails and snail mails that women had sent them as feedback on the show. “After three seasons back-to-back, we took time off to research for season four where we found that kitty party ladies, and even aspiring kitty party organisers took the games on our show very seriously,” she says. “So, we decided to put together a lot of these one-minute games on a website along with some other valuable help.”

Rooh Lemon Berry Mint and Coco Rooh Delight


Berry: 100 gm
Melon: 100 gm
Lemon: 1
Rooh Afza: 60 ml
Crushed ice
Mint: 10 leaves
Brown sugar: 2 teaspoons
Soda: 120 ml
Coconut water: 120 ml
Coconut milk: 30 ml
Khus khus paste: 1 tablespoon
Sugar: 1 teaspoon
Coconut: 1

Combine berry, lemon rind, lemon juice, melon, mint, brown sugar and rooh afza in a mudler and pour it out in a glass.
Top it up with soda, serve the rooh berry mint chilled garnished with a slice of lemon and mint leaves.

For Coco Rooh delight, blend coconut water, rooh afza, coconut milk, khus khus paste, sugar in a mudler and pour it out in a vessel. Serve it chilled with crushed ice.
