Maoists on Saturday struck in Andhra Pradesh’s Visakhapatnam and Khammam districts, bordering Odisha and Chhattisgarh, digging up roads, cutting trees and warning villagers not to step out.
Hundreds of trucks carrying essential supplies have been stranded at Aradakota village near Peddabayalu in Visakhapatnam for the past two days. In Khammam, a road linking Bhadrachalam to Bilaspur in Chhattisgarh was dug up, paralysing traffic.
All government buses have been withdrawn from routes along the borders. In the urban areas, buses are running with police protection.
