In the times of recession, David Dhawan is trying to curtail his film's budget by hook or by crook. And for this purpose, the cast of Hook Ya Crook have been asked to take a pay cut by as much as 50 per cent.
While actors like John Abraham, Genelia D'Souza, Aditya Pancholi and Kay Kay Menon have happily accepted the reduction in their fee, cricketer Mahendra Singh Dhoni is being paid the full sum.
Said a source, "The entire cast was asked to reduce the price, even John. The film's original budget was Rs. 40 crores. During this time of recession a 40-crore film about cricket with David Dhawan-John Abraham as its USP didn't make any sense."
According to grapevine, Irrfan Khan was supposed to play Kay Kay Menon's role, but he walked out of the film when he was asked to take a pay cut.
