CHIEF SECRETARY Naveen Chandra Bajpai on Thursday took strong exception to the unauthorised use of hooters, red and blue beacons by the government vehicles.

He said that the fine in such cases should be recovered from the officers incharge using the vehicles.

In an official press release, said the chief secretary asked the officers to ensure that hooters, red and blue beacons were used only by authorised persons.

At the same time, the number plate being used by such vehicles should be in accordance with the provisions of the Motor Vehicle Act-1989, the chief secretary said.

He asked officers to remove hooters and beacons from their respective vehicles if they were not authorised to use the same.

He said the black film, if it was not in accordance with specifications, should also be removed from the government vehicles.

The principal secretaries and secretaries should issue necessary directives to the officers of their respective departments, he added.
