Chief Minister YS Rajasekhara Reddy welcomed the interim budget presented by the Railway Minister Lal Prasad Yadav on Friday in Parliament.
He said it is a record achievement that the Railways earned a surplus of Rs 90,000 crores in five years. Out of this Rs 70,000 crores was invested back in Railways, he added.
He said it was creditable that the average freight growth increased from three to eight per cent in five years.
The chief minister lauded Railway Minister for reducing the railway fares by two per cent across the table for all class of passengers.
He expressed happiness that a study has been ordered for introduction of High speed trains (Bullet Trains) on Hyderabad-Vijayawada-Chennai route.
“A superfast train between Secunderabad-Manugur daily will now be introduced. Machilipatnam-Mumbai Express train has been introduced two days in a week,” Reddy said.
The chief minister was happy that the Secunderabad-Visakhapatnam Garibirath train has now been increased to daily train from four days a week.
He said the Secunderabad-Patna bi-weekly express is also now made a daily express.
The chief minister said in interim budget much more could be expected and hoped that in the full railway budget to be presented later, the needs of Andhra Pradesh will be reflected, an official release said.
