A group of 28 refugees from Sri Lanka's Vavuniya on Wednesday arrived at the nearby Arichalmunai, official sources said.
The refugees, including nine women and nine children belonging to 10 families, reached in a boat, the sources said.
The refugees told the officials that they paid Rs 15,000 each to the boat owner for ferrying them to India.
Official sources, however, said no refugee came to India from Sri Lanka during the last 15 days.
The Sri Lankan army has launched an offensive against the LTTE in the island nation's northern region including the town of Vavuniya.
