Taking a dig at Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), the Congress on Monday said re-induction of Prof Chaman Lal Gupta, former BJP MLA -- who was expelled along with six other MLAs by the party for their alleged cross-voting in MLC elections in Jammu and Kashmir -- has exposed the real face of BJP.
Jammu & Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) spokesman Rashid Choudhary pointed out that the tall claims of BJP for being an anti-corruption party have fallen flat by reinstatement of Prof Gupta.
“How and why Prof Gupta, who had formed a parallel party to unleash propaganda against the BJP and was continuing with it since his expulsion from the party, has suddenly changed and went back to the BJP," Choudhary said, alleging, “There must be some shady deals between Prof Gupta and the BJP.”
Questioning the BJP for reinstating Prof Gupta back into the party fold, Choudhary said BJP was a party of hypocrites who had never fulfilled their commitment made to the public. “The rejoining of Chaman Lal Gupta proves that BJP promotes corruption in the political system,” he said.
“Prof Gupta served no good to the people in last six years and there was a strong resentment brewing against him and other corrupt BJP leaders,” he said.
Choudhary maintained that even though the BJP had reinstated the expelled MLAs and their leader Cham Lal Gupta, they would not be able to win hearts of people again, as the saffron party had ditched them by their misdeeds and inactive approach in dealing with their grievances and other issues. “The misdeeds of BJP are going to prove detrimental to it ambitions in the coming assembly elections,” he added.
