MAYOR SUNIL Sood urged the State Government to remove hurdles in the way of implementation of the urban development projects in the Capital under the MP Urban development scheme (ADB-assisted) and the Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission (JNNURM).
The Mayor was making a presentation of various development project components here at the State-level review meeting on the projects on Saturday. Sood demanded that technical officials be provided to the Bhopal Municipal Corporation, a water board be created for the four cities under the project and water taxes be rationalised, help be provided to recover tax dues worth Rs 25 crores from the MP Electricity Board, subsidy on street lighting, amendments in the land transfer rules and rules regarding proposed transport zone and so on.
Municipal Commissioner Manish Singh gave details of the schemes being implemented in the City under the project and mentioned the paucity of technical officers. He said that officers on deputation are no help and specific officials for the municipal corporations are needed.
A documentary-based presentation on the schemes including housing schemes at Roshanpura, Banganga, Shyam Nagar, Kalpana Nagar, Shabari Nagar, Bapu Nagar, Kotra Haat slums, water supply in gas-affected areas, channelisation of sewage nullahs, infrastructure development in MP Nagar, categorised scrap market and others was made.
