Resident doctors stir enters fourth day
THE NURSING, technician and officers forums of the Sanjay Gandhi Post Graduate Institute of Medical Sciences (SGPGIMS) warned the authorities that they too would go on strike if any action was taken against the resident doctors.
THE NURSING, technician and officers forums of the Sanjay Gandhi Post Graduate Institute of Medical Sciences (SGPGIMS) warned the authorities that they too would go on strike if any action was taken against the resident doctors.
The government warning to the doctors seemed to have little impact on the resident doctors whose strike entered the fourth day on Monday.
The Out Patient Department (OPD) did not function. However, the senior consultants attended about two dozen patients in endocrine medicine, endocrine surgery, cardiology, cardio-vascular thorasic surgery, while follow-ups were done at gastro-surgery, gastro-enterology, urology and nephrology departments.
The State Government, on Sunday, had declared the strike by resident doctors illegal and appealed to them to return to duties within 24 hours otherwise their services would be terminated. The strike was banned under the ESMA (Essential Services Maintenance Act).
