Services frontman Dhananjay Mahadik and his Pakistani counterpart Adnan Maqsood scored late goals as Maratha Warriors scored a morale-boosting 2-1 silver goal victory against Chennai Veerans to restart their Premier Hockey League campaign after a gap of 22 days.
The Warriors, playing without injured forward Hemant Gethe, displayed their steely resolve once again as they fought back from a goal deficit with four minutes to go, and then scored again towards the end of the first-half of extra-time.
Mahadik saved the Warriors' the blushes in the 66th minute when he converted a penalty stroke, and Maqsood then directed the ball in after a drag-flick by fellow Pakistani Imran Warsi in the 77th minute.
The Warriors thus got two points for their efforts, taking their points tally to seven from five matches. The Veerans too are at seven points thanks to the one they earned for taking the Warriors to extratime but they have played one extra match.
