Moderate separatist leader Mirwaiz Umer Farooq on Monday said resolution of the lingering Kashmir issue was imperative for political stability in the region.
"Unless the Kashmir issue is resolved in accordance with wishes and aspirations of the people, uncertainty will remain," he told Canadian envoys.
Political Advisor in the Canadian embassy Julie Jay Bantali and Economy Advisor Sumitra, on a visit to Kashmir to acquaint themselves with the prevailing situation, met the moderate Hurriyat Conference chairman at his Nigeen residence.

Any solution should be in accordance with wishes and aspirations of the people of Kashmir, Mirwaiz told the envoys.
He briefed them on the prevailing political situation in Jammu and Kashmir.
