Fearing trouble during the demonstrations planned by the hardline faction of Hurriyat Conference, authorities restricted the movement of people in police stations areas of Nowhatta, Khanyar, Maharajgun, Safakadal, Rainawari, Soura, Parimpora, Batmaloo, Maisuma, Qmmerwari and Bemina in Srinagar besdes parts of Budgam district.

Police said the restrictions were aimed at maintaining law and order.

In rest of the Valley, life remained crippled due to the separatist sponsored week-long shutdown. Shops and educational institutions were closed and transport was off the roads.

Normal life has been hit in the Valley for the past five weeks as the separatists called for strikes to protest the killing of several youths in alleged firing by security forces.
