Retired official commits suicide in Ghaziabad

A retired NTPC official named Mahendra Singh Pal is found hanging from the ceiling fan of his bedroom in his house in Sanjay Nagar locality in Ghaziabad.

A retired National Thermal Power Corporation official on Tuesday committed suicide in Ghaziabad.

Mahendra Singh Pal was found hanging from the ceiling fan of his bedroom in his house located in Sanjay Nagar locality under jurisdiction of Kavi Nagar police station.

The police recovered a suicide note from his room.

According to family members, Pal, a bachelor, retired from NTPC April 30, 2001. He had not been keeping well for the last couple of years.

Tuesday morning, his niece noticed that Pal neither came for tea nor responded to the knocks on his door. She called the police. They broke open the door and found him hanging from the ceiling fan.

Circle officer C.P. Singh said Pal was leading a lonely life. He adopted his niece and married her off but she had divorced her husband. She was living with Pal.
