Revenge borne out of protracted betrayal appears to have driven Maria Monica Susairaj to plan the murder of Neeraj Grover. Her fiance Navy lieutenant Emile Jerome Mathew extended a helping hand quite willingly.

As the Mumbai police prepare to file the chargesheet in the sensational murder of media executive Neeraj Grover who was allegedly stabbed to death in the Malad flat of Kannada film actress Susairaj and his finely cut body parts were later burnt in jungles at Manor on May 7 'revenge' has been attributed as the motive behind the killing.

"Yes. It was a burning desire for revenge that had driven Maria and Mathew to slay Grover in a planned manner," Joint Commissioner of Police (Crime) Rakesh Maria said.

An officer investigating the case, speaking on condition of anonymity, told HT that Susairaj was actually peeved as "Neeraj cashed in on Susairaj's desperation for a break and kept exploiting her sexually with a promise for the same."

Susairaj first came across Neeraj this March at Balaji Telefilms, where he was working as the creative head. She had come for an audition for the teleserial Mahabharat but could not get a role. "However, she could sense Neeraj's authority in the production house and started getting closer to him," the officer stated.

It may be recalled that Susairaj had dumped her successful career in Kannada films and moved to Mumbai early this year to get a break in television.
