A box office hit at the start of the year and an Actress of the Decade award in her kitty! 2011 has surely begun on a lucky note for Bollywood actor Rani MukHerji.
After receiving appreciation for her portrayal of a hardcore journalist in No One Killed Jessica (NOKJ), Rani has proven her acting credentials to an industry that had almost written her off.
When asked about director Rajkumar Gupta, who confessed to being smitten by her during the film, she says: “I was loved by the entire crew of the movie.”
Currently, she is working with Kareena Kapoor and her long time friend Aamir Khan in an untitled thriller directed by Reema Kagti.
When asked about her relationship with Aamir, she says, “He is my lucky charm and it’s always a pleasure to work with him.” When quizzed about her effort to ease tension between her good friends Shah Rukh and Salman, she says, “I would not like to comment.”
At the GR8! Women Awards 2011 held at Gurgaon’s Kingdom of Dreams, where she was awarded the Actress of the Decade award, she spoke about Mother Teresa as her role model. “Mother Teresa has been a guiding force, an image of a complete woman in my life.”
Thanking her loyal audiences at the ceremony, she remarked “I have had a great experience in the past decade and have a loyal audience who have given me so much love that I feel indebted. Likewise I’m also aware of my social responsibility as a youth icon.”
On being asked about marriage, she says, “For me marriage is a sacred institution, when I do get married it would be a spontaneous decision. I want the whole deal -husband, kids and a family. Whenever that happens I will let my fans know.”
Rani talks about...
Success of NOKJ
I feel honoured with the way my role in the film was appreciated. I felt it was a powerful role.
Working with Aamir
Aamir is my lucky charm. I have done some of my best work with him. It’s nice to work with pals.
On Salman & SRK
This is not the place for such discussions and I do not wish to comment on Salman and Shah Rukh’s patch-up.
Not a tweeter
I can’t take Twitter casually as I can’t tweet anything or everything. I feel it is a social responsibility.
