Riyaz in basketball team for Asian Games

RIYAZUDDIN, THE basketball player from the City, has been selected for the national team, which will participate in the Asian Games in Qatar, Doha next month.

Riyaz, who represented India in 18 international tournaments, is hoping to demonstrate his best in the Asian Games. “I was the vice-captain of the team that participated in the Commonwealth Games. As I am associated with the team for last couple of years, the coordination with the players is perfect,” said Riyaz.

He is with the national team for last five years. He was the captain of the team for the Champions Cup. This is for the first time that he is participating in the Asian Games.

After receiving the confirmation of selecting in the team, Riyaz felt that it was his dream that came true. “I was waiting for this day. I am happy after being selected in the team,” said Riyaz. Before appearing in the Asian Games, the team will play some practice matches in Bahrain. 

International basketball player Uday Yadav, Damodar Arya, Rajiv Saxena, Upendra Tomar, Kamlakar Singh, Yashwant Singh Kushwaha and others congratulated Riyaz.
