If you are planning a road trip with friends, here are some tips to ensure you travel hassle free:
Check fluids in car: Check the car’s main fluids such as the oil, radiator fluid and windshield washer fluid. Also, take your car for an oil change and tune-up check up. Carry the owner’s manual list that recommends the manufacturer’s oil for different climates.
Tend to tyres: Check for air pressure in the tyres. Tyres with right pressure help improve fuel economy as well. Do not forget to carry a spare tire.
Check your mirrors and other essentials: Ensure you have big sized and clear mirrors. They allow you to see next to your vehicle and trailer. If required, install mirror extensions for a better view. Make sure the other essentials like the seat belt, stereo and other accessories are functioning well.
Study the route well: Before taking the trip, spend some quality time studying the routes. It’s best not waste hours en route while searching for the correct road. Preferably carry a map along and try taking routes which have picturesque side roads. Plan your trip with some extra time on hand so that you can stop at landmarks while on your way there.
Practice safety and follow signs: Do not unnecessarily overtake or obstruct others. Don’t tailgate either. Read and follow the signs or instructions mentioned on the road sides.
Check fuel tank : Keep tabs on your car’s fuel tank and fill up the moment you spot a fuel station.
Avoid fatigue: Before driving be fresh and alert. Have a good night’s sleep as you have to remain alert. Take breaks on your way.
