Despite tall claims by the administration, the city roads have failed to give a smooth ride to commuters. And the roads of sectors 14 and 15, situated near the office of the Haryana Urban Development Authority (Huda), reveal the authority's apathy.
Sector 14, which houses several banks, a shopping complex, and other residential and commercial establishments, witnesses thousands of visitors daily, while Sector 15 has residents such as ministers, senior police officials and bureaucrats.
Besides, several luxury hotels are also located in the area where foreigners come in large numbers.
"A substantial part of Haryana's revenue is generated out of Gurgaon. Still, the city is being neglected by the government. In the last one year, they have filled potholes two times. But just one rain exposes what kind of materials are being used," said a Sector 14 resident.
Residents also complained about lack of parking space outside the main shopping complex of the area. "Hundreds of visitors come to the shopping complex daily but one would hardly find some space to park a vehicle," said another resident.
Huda, on the other hand, said that roads will be carpeted soon.
"We know that residents are unhappy because of poor condition of roads. We would make sure that roads are carpeted properly so that the residents can enjoy a smooth journey," said Narender Yadav, estate officer, Huda.
