A Delhi resident was robbed of Rs 1.7 lakh in cash from an eating joint in Noida on Saturday.
Deepankar Mukherjee, a manager of a factory located in Noida, he gone to the washroom at McDonald’s in Sector 16 when his bag was stolen.
Mukherjee said, “I withdrew Rs1 lakh from a bank in Sector 16 and I already had Rs 70,000 with me. From the bank I went to a nearby McDonald’s to have some snacks. There I went to the washroom where someone snatched my bag. Two other persons blocked my way when I tried to follow the man who took my bag. When I came out of the wash room the man had gone.”
RN Mishra, Deputy Superintendent of Police, said, “Through CCTV footage we are trying to identify the person who stole the bag. In the footage a thin man, around 5 feet 7 inch tall wearing jersey with white collars and trouser, was seen taking the bag. He was seen coming out of the washroom with a bag around 11.41 a.m.”
“From the CCTV footage, slackness on part of Mukherjee was visible at the eating table itself. He had placed the bag across the table below the chair instead of holding it between his legs.”
“In the washroom too, he may have kept the bag sideways. The man may have been following him from the bank,” said Mishra.
