ROBBERS BROKE into a house in Good Shepherd Colony on Kolar Road and decamped with jewellery and cash on Wednesday night. According to police, the intruders broke into the house of PS Samuel, 63, a retired accountant, by taking out the grill.
When Samuel woke up hearing the noise, he saw the robbers who were wearing monkey caps. As he shouted for help, one of them hit him on the leg with a rod.
As the complainant’s wife woke up, the burglars snatched her chain and gold ring. They also collected five gold bangles and other jewellery apart from some cash from the almirah. The couple’s son remained asleep on the first floor during the entire robbery.
The robbers who were three or four in number escaped within half-an-hour. The incident occurred between 2.30 am and 3 am.
The estimate of robbed valuables is not known but is surmised at over Rs 60,000.
The Kolar police have registered a case of voluntarily causing hurt in robbery and launched a hunt for the gang.
