I plan to visit Gangtok and Darjeeling in the third week of June. Will it be snowing there? Is the ropeway functional in Darjeeling? Will the Teesta river be suitable for rafting in June?
Chaitanya

I have been there many times, but never came across snow fall in the month of June. The ropeway in Darjeeling was closed long ago, but there is one in Gangtok. Rafting can be done anytime in Teesta, if it is not raining heavily.

I plan to stay at Chopta, Uttaranchal for 2 nights in the second half of October with family. I have my 2 year-old-son with me. Can I hire a tourist vehicle from Chopta to Badrinath?
Ranadeep

There is only rudimentary accommodation in Chopta. There’s the Awas Griha, the Tourist Rest House and the Nanda Devi Paryatak. About 4 km away, at Duggalbhitta, there are comfortable private hotels including the Mayadeep Herbal Resort and the Chauhan guest House. The tariff for one night would be around Rs 1,200 for a room with double beds. You can book the rooms online.

For Badrinath, you can come down to Gopeswar and then hire a car. To get to Chopta, tourists generally hire a car from Ukhimath (30 km away) or Rudraprayag.
