RONAK PANDIT, Sonia Rai, Sushil Ghaley and Deepali Deshpande won the first positions in various events in the shooting selection trials for the Asian Games held today at BSF Reoti Range organised by National Rifle Association of India.
In the 10-m air pistol event for men, Ronak Pandit of Maharashtra won the first position scoring 684.3 points while Samaresh Jung of CISF and Vivek Sngh of Indian Airlines scored 682.9 and 681.4 points to win the second and third positions respectively.
In the women’s event, Sonia Rai of CISF won the first position scoring 481 points while Sheweta Choudhary and Annuraj Singh of Indian Airlines scored 478.2 and 476.4 points to be satisfied with the second and the third positions.
In the 50-m rifle prone for men, Army shooters won all three positions to bring laurels to their unit. Sushil Ghaley scored 696.9 points to win the first position while Surendra Singh Rathore and Babu Ram Thapa scored 692.7 and 690.8 points to win the second and third positions.
In the women’s category, Deepali Deshpande of Railways won the first position. She scored 595 points to top the table while Meena Kumari and Raj Kumari won the second and third positions scoring 593 and 591 points respectively. According to national coach Sunny Thomas, tomorrow will be the rest day and the selection trials will continue on September 14.
