Ten days after four employees of a Faridabad-based businessman were robbed of Rs 1.25 crore, the city police on Monday claimed to have cracked the case and arrested two persons in this connection. Police have also recovered Rs 70 lakh from their possession.

On March 14, four employees of the businessman, who had come to Ghaziabad for a business deal, were allegedly abducted and robbed by five armed men near Vivekanand flyover on NH-24.

According to police, the four employees withdrew Rs 1 crore from a private bank at Raj Nagar in Ghaziabad. They did a business deal with a company and received R25 lakh in cash. Then they left the city in their Logan car. When they reached Vivekanand flyover, they were intercepted by five armed robbers in a Bolero car. Two of the robbers carrying self-loaded rifles were in police uniform.

After travelling nearly 100 km through Hapur, Bulandshahr and Khurja, the two cars stopped and the robbers in their Bolero car escaped with the cash, leaving the victims stranded on the highway near Aligarh at around 8 pm.

Later, the businessman, RK Sharma, lodged an FIR at Kavi Nagar police station.

During investigations, it was revealed that Sharma’s driver Ravi Kumar, who is heavily in debt, had hatched the plan to repay his R15 lakh loan. Police have arrested Ravi and another accused Naresh’s mother Chandra Wati from whom R70 lakh was recovered.

Ravi hatched a conspiracy with his brother-in-law, Naresh, a resident of Aligarh and a former cop with the Haryana Police, and involved one Ved Prakash. Prakash then gathered the entire gang, comprising three others, for the robbery.

The police are yet to arrest Ved Prakash, Naresh, Sanjeev, Monu and Om Veer.
