THIRTY-ONE PROJECTS worth Rs 1492. 20 crore have been sanctioned for pushing development activities in Bhopal, Indore, Jabalpur and Ujjain under Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission (JNNURM). Besides, the Asian Development Bank (ADB) has sanctioned Rs 1366 crore to municipal corporations of Bhopal, Indore, Jabalpur and Gwalior under different development projects.
This was disclosed at the state-level review meeting of JNNURM and ADB, presided over by Urban Administration, Development, Housing and Environment Minister Jayant Mallaiya here on Friday. The Minister declared that the development works being carried out with ADB finance would be called Project Uday.
At the meeting it was disclosed that under JNNURM the State had sent projects to the tune of Rs 8236.30 crore –out of which projects costing Rs 1492. 20 crore - had been sanctioned.
Mallaiya said that the government’s priority was to ensure that the residential quarters for the poor replaced the slums under different projects. He directed the officials to accelerate the construction of such houses. He asked them to ensure that the projects under JNNURM and ADB were completed on time.
