BHEL EMPLOYEES United Trade Union (UTU) has urged the BHEL management that instead of implementing the slab system in giving bonus to its staff, a uniform amount of Rs 23,000 should be given to all.
Besides, they should be given some ‘respectable memento’ instead of watches during the golden jubilee celebrations of the PSU, the Union said.
The UTU has also asked the BHEL management to convert overtimes into cash and conveyance allowance be given to all grades on the basis of vehicles used by an individual.
UTU senior secretary said a sub-committee would hold a meeting on ‘Legalising the Proposed Slab-based Bonus on October 30’, which needs to be prevented.
“We have appealed to all the workers to get a coupon of Rs 3 on October 31 and participate in a mass-meal at Canteen 1 on November 1 to express their solidarity,” he said.
The UTU has alleged that on one hand the top management has been spending money and obliging senior officials while on the other hand workers are being ignored.
Meanwhile, the BHEL Retired Employees Association would stage a demonstration to press for its demands on November 6.
Issuing a press release, Association general secretary said the decision of demonstration was taken unanimously at a meeting and it would be staged during the visit of Union Heavy Industries Minister Santosh Mohan Deb on November 6. On the occasion of golden jubilee celebrations, BHEL felicitated its present employees but ignored those who had retired, he added.
