Rs 250-cr KDA scam probe in final stages: CM

CHIEF MINISTER Mulayam Singh Yadav said that the probe in Rs 250-crore land scam at Kanpur Development Authority (KDA) was in its final stage. He also assured of stringent action against those involved in the scam soon. Talking to newsmen at the university auditorium, the CM who seemed willing to answer all posers of scribes, however, declined to comment on the statement of Mayawati with regards to Muslims.

CHIEF MINISTER Mulayam Singh Yadav said that the probe in Rs 250-crore land scam at Kanpur Development Authority (KDA) was in its final stage. He also assured of stringent action against those involved in the scam soon.

Talking to newsmen at the university auditorium, the CM who seemed willing to answer all posers of scribes, however, declined to comment on the statement of Mayawati with regards to Muslims. He said that the scribes should directly pose the question before Mayawati instead of him.

Referring to the issue of land scam raised by Chairman of Awas Bandhu Harmohan Singh Yadav, the CM said, “The investigation will be wrapped up soon and action will be taken against guilty officials.”

It may be mentioned that before the constitution of the KDA, a multi-crore land scam in allotment of plots took place. The investigations were still going on to probe the matter.

The CM avoided a direct reply on the question of development package to the city. Instead, he said that all needed financial assistance would be given to the city for construction of roads, laying of sewer lines and ensuring water supply.
However, the CM out rightly stated that no financial assistance would be given to the Kanpur Municipal Corporation but the pending dues of the civic body on state government offices would be realized to assist the Municipal Corporation.
On the question of party’s debacle in local bodies’ election, the CM stated that party’s organisational structure would be reviewed.
