THE STATE Government has distributed Rs 86.65 crore under the Social Security Pension and National Family Benefit Scheme to 11.60 lakh beneficiaries in the State.
The Centre has sanctioned Rs. 211.56 crore to the State under the two schemes. The sanction includes Rs. 176 crore for Social Security Pension and Rs. 72.04 crore for the National Family Benefit Scheme.
Under the Social Security Pension Scheme, monthly financial assistance is provided to people above 60 years of age, destitute widows and deserted women. Besides, financial aid at a rate of Rs 150 per month is provided to destitute, disabled and disabled students in the age group of 6 and 14years.
As many as 11.47 lakh persons have been provided with financial assistance worth Rs 72 crore in the State under the scheme. Similarly, so far assistance amounting to Rs. 14.81 crore has been provided to 13,967 persons under the National Family Benefit Scheme.
Under the National Family Benefit Scheme, financial assistance amounting to Rs 10,000 is provided to such family, which has lost its main earning member. The age of deceased should be between 18 and 65 years.
