THE CONGRESS on Saturday again raised the issue of communal propaganda allegedly being carried out by the RSS and allied outfits on the pretext of Hindu Sammelans taking place across the State as part of RSS ideologue Guru Golwalkar’s centenary programme. Addressing a press conference in this regard, Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) Minorities Cell chief Haji Mohd Haroon showed the pamphlets being distributed soliciting Hindus to unite to ‘defend’ their religion and nation.
Haroon said there was nothing wrong in carrying out propaganda for promotion of one’s religion but other religions should not be targeted in the process as being done by the saffron outfits. He said Muslims were being portrayed as supporters of terrorists and Hindus being exhorted to unite to combat the threat posed by them. They are also being told that they would be reduced to minority by 2061 if they did not stand up to face the threat of large-scale conversions and increase in the ratio of Muslim and Christian population.
Demanding legal action against persons and outfits involved in such communal propaganda, he suggested that communal incidents at different places in the State in the recent past could be outcome of this propaganda as pamphlets of Hindu Sammelans were being distributed up to the villages.
