Ruckus over NRI seats counselling

As per the information gathered, the Directorate of Medical Education has called 42 students for the counselling to NRI seats and all of them were made to deposit registration fees of Rs 2,000.

The students had been reportedly made to understand that there were 23 NRI quota seats available. However suddenly at 3.00 pm, the GMC authorities announced that only six students had been found eligible for the seats, sources said.

This enraged the students and their parents and they tried to get inside the counselling administration office, but in vain. They later reportedly stormed the chamber of GMC dean Dr M K Srivastava demanding refund of registration fees, which was refused to them. The commotion continued for sometime following which the students dispersed. Officials could not be contacted for comments.
