Almost 48 hours after an alleged kidnapping, Goa police on Wednesday rescued six-year-old Russian boy from his father's custody acting on a complaint filed by the man's divorced wife.
Anastasia Patrina, a Russian lady, had earlier alleged that her ex-husband Alexsandar Krichenko had kidnapped her son Egor Patrina while both were at Vagator Beach Belt in Goa.
Both had divorced last year and arrived in Goa separately and a Moscow court had given the legal custody of the child to the mother.
Patrina, travelling on the same passport with her son had arrived on October 29 in 2007. Her ex-husband was already in Goa on a business visa.
According to the mother, she was a partner in his business here. She had come to Goa to quit the business partnership.
She had alleged on May 5 that Anjuna police had illegally allowed her ex-husband the custody of the child.
She had lodged a complaint of kidnapping against her ex- husband and the copies were forwarded to police top brass in the state.
After initial reluctance, Anjuna police this evening summoned the ex-husband to the police station who was staying at Calang Ute Beach, 10 kms away from the police station.
"The child was identified by his mother and we rescued him from the father," Police Inspector C L Patil told reporters at Mapusa Sub-divisional Police Officer's Office.
"Acting on the complaint filed by mother, Krichenko was arrested under Section 363 of Indian Penal Code (IPC)," Patil stated.
