Sachin hungry for more

Our chase against Royal Challengers Bangalore may have looked easy and professional, but it had a very interesting dimension.

Our chase against Royal Challengers Bangalore may have looked easy and professional, but it had a very interesting dimension.

After restricting RCB to a reasonable 140 runs on a slightly slow wicket, I was relaxed and happy with our effort. I was still basking in the glory of a job well done, when suddenly I found myself witnessing this clinical partnership between Sachin Tendulkar and Ambati Rayudu. Two completely different individuals, standing at different stages of their careers, and still complementing each others' efforts.

Scoring runs gives Sachin a child-like joy, the same he would have got while playing at the Shivaji Park as a 12-year-old. Except the age and a few grey strands, nothing has changed. His hunger and desire to learn are very much alive.

RAYUDU THE PRODIGY
At the other end, was another prodigy, Ambati Rayudu, trying to match the legend. As a batsman, it’s not easy to bat with Tendulkar. But Rayudu stood firm, and guided by the man himself, he played a superb innings. As a youngster, Rayudu's name always featured in the list of budding cricketers. And, like so many young boys, he got lost in the journey.

The transition from a young talented cricketer to someone who makes the most of his talent is never easy.

He is only 25, and his future looks bright. If he keeps going like this, I am sure we will hear a lot about this boy from VVS Laxman's city.

All in all, it was a good team effort by us to get our second consecutive win in the IPL. Winning is a habit which is hard to carry and easy to lose. With two convincing wins behind us, the stakes have gone up and nothing less than a win will be expected. PMG
