Safety of commuters paramount

india Updated: Feb 11, 2013 01:36 IST

I have been living in Gurgaon from the past five years and I love the place.

It was my decision to shift to Gurgaon as I prefer it to Delhi and other cities in the NCR as I feel the Millennium City is developing at a fast pace.

But over the last few months, I have witnessed that pedestrians and commuters face difficulties as the volume of traffic has increased on the roads.

The undergoing Rapid Metro work project on the Golf Course Road, which caters to DLF and other areas, has also contributed to the traffic chaos.

Traffic is poorly managed on the dug up stretch and none of the departments seem serious about addressing the issue. Roads have been dug up at several places across the city.

It is difficult to pass through such stretches.

Road digging work is being carried out at several places across Gurgaon.

Flyover, footover bridge, laying cable lines etc, there are several things for which roads are being dug up.

The authorities and city police have not ensured a safe passage for pedestrians and commuters.

At Sikanderpur, there has been some relief for commuters due to extensive coverage by the media regarding difficulties faced by people on the MG Road.

The Huda and traffic police should have ensured unhindered passage before allowing work on the project to commence.

Why should the government wait for the common man to protest?

I want to draw the administration's attention toward this issue and wish that it directs the contractors concerned to ensure safety of commuters and pedestrians.
