A day after a brawl at one of its bars, the management of Sahara Mall on Saturday issued notices to all six bars to down their shutters by 1.30am on New Year’s eve. Entry to the mall will be closed at 11pm, the notices said.
The mall authorities have also directed all pubs and bars to keep a check on miscreants.
“Something keeps happening in this mall. Circumstances have made us rethink the timings and security measures,” said JK Gupta, regional head, Sahara Mall and Properties.
People have started avoiding pubs and bars in Sahara Mall after a series of brawls reported this year.
Even for New Year’s eve, not a single booking was made at any of the pubs in the mall.
Only walk-in customers are expected on Saturday night.
In July, the mall management had disconnected power and water supply to pubs and asked them to shut down after a major brawl was reported.
Meanwhile, the police and the excise department seem to have shut their eyes on the sale of liquor after midnight. One can easily get a glass of wine in bars till wee hours across the city.
