Sahil Zaroo, an accused in the Rahul Mahajan narcotics case, was remanded to police custody till June 27 in the Shahtoosh shawls sale case booked against him by Mumbai police some months ago.
A sessions court while sending Sahil to police custody, decided to hear his bail plea at the end of the police custody remand. Earlier, Sahil was brought to Mumbai from Delhi and lodged at Azad Maidan police station lock up before he was produced before a magistrate.
In the court, Sahil informed the judge that he was not feeling well and was running temperature. The judge, therefore, allowed Sahil to sit inside the court premises.
Mumbai police registered a case against Sahil and two others after he fled with Shahtoosh shawls from his uncle's shop at a five-star hotel in south Mumbai during a raid in March this year. Sahil is charged with section 353 IPC (obstructing public servants from performing duty) and section 380 IPC (theft).
While Sahil's anticipatory bail was rejected, his uncle and an employee of the shop, Rafiq Ghulam Mohammed and Ilyas Aziz Khan, were released on regular bail by a remand court.
The state has moved for cancellation of bail granted to Sahil's uncle and Ilyas in the Mumbai court, which has posted the matter for hearing on June 22.
