SAIL announces reward for Indian hockey team in World Cup

Steel Authority of India on Friday announced performance-based rewards for Indian hockey team during different stages of the FIH World Cup starting at the Dhyan Chand stadium in New Delhi on Sunday.

SAIL, presenting partner of the hockey World Cup, will award Rs one crore to the Indian team if it wins the
tournament, while for reaching finals, Rs 50 lakh will be given to the team. For winning bronze, the reward will be Rs
25 lakh.

SAIL is also presenting a 'Man of Steel' -- Best Defender award -- in all the matches of the tournament. The award
carries a trophy and a cash reward.

Speaking at a photo session with the captains of the 12 teams participating in the quadrennial event, Union Minister
for Steel Virbhadra Singh made this announcement.

The programme was also attended by Union Minister of State for Steel, A Sai Prathap and SAIL Chairman SK Roongta.

SAIL has set up various residential sports academies for football, athletics, archery and hockey in different regions
of India.
