A sales executive of a private bank has been arrested for allegedly stalking a 25-year-old woman who works with a private bank at Connaught Place and misbehaving with her.

Police said the accused was arrested in 2010 also over similar charges. The complainant in both cases is the same woman.

The accused, identified as Alok Ranjan, was arrested by a team from the Barakhamba Road police station from Gopal Das Tower following a complaint lodged by the victim. In 2010, Ranjan was arrested by the Connaught Place police after a complaint by the same woman and was behind bars for sometime.

Ranjan knows the woman for the past five years. He had wanted to be friends with her several times in the past. Since the woman had turned down his proposals, Ranjan used to stalk her.

"In 2010, when, despite repeated rejections, Ranjan did not mend his ways, the woman lodged a stalking case against him at the Connaught Place police station. Ranjan was arrested and sent to jail," said a police officer. Ranjan lives with his family in Sarita Vihar area.

The woman in her latest complaint alleged that Ranjan has been stalking her again for the past couple of months. Initially, she tried to make him understand the consequences of his crime but he continued creating problems for her.

Two days ago, the woman had gone to meet her friend at Gopal Das Tower. "Ranjan followed her from outside her bank and attempted to speak to her. The woman asked him not to follow her and asked him to leave and threatened to call the police. This made Ranjan angry and he misbehaved with the woman, who later made a call to the police control room. A police team arrived at the spot and arrested Ranjan," added the officer.
