Salman KhanAnees Bazmee has just flown off to Canada for Thank You, toplining Akshay Kumar, Bobby Deol, Suneil Shetty, Irrfan Khan, Sonam Kapoor, Celina Jaitley and Rimmi Sen. He’ll be back in a month’s time and in June will get started on the Asin-Salman Khan starrer, Ready.

“The first schedule will probably be in Mumbai. We’ll be putting up a lavish set and doing a lot of outdoor shots too. In August, when it rains, we’ll move indoors. Then, in October, we’ll fly off for a 50-70 day schedule somewhere abroad and should be able to wrap up the film,” says the director.

Bazmee and Salman Khan shared a great rapport during the making of the blockbuster No Entry. And ever since have wanted to team up for another film. “It’s finally happened,” Bazmee exults, adding that the title is reflective of its ‘hero’ who is ready for anything… dance, action, romance and even ‘shaadi’.

Right choice lady
Khan will be wooing Asin in the film. This will be their second film together after London Dreams. Bazmee says that he didn’t see Vipul Shah’s musical but he did see Asin’s Bollywood debut, Ghajini, and several of her South films.

“I have written for a lot of films down South and I’m well acquainted with Asin’s work there. I was looking for a ‘chulbuli’ (bubbly) girl and she fit the bill perfectly,” points out Bazmee.

Given that Asin has been turning down offers from big makers including Ashutosh Gowarikar’s Khelein Hum Jee Jaan Sey, how difficult was it getting her to sign on the dotted line? “It didn’t take much convincing. Ready is a big film being produced by T-Series. It’s an interesting role opposite a saleable actor. I have delivered hits like No Entry, Welcome and Singh Is Kinng in the past. There was no reason for her to refuse,” he argues.

The film is a remake of a 2008 Telugu film, Ready, featuring Ram and Genlia D’Souza. It was one of the biggest grossing Telugu films in the US and celebrated a 100- day run in Andhra Pradesh too.

Directed by Srinu Vytla, the film revolves around Chandu, a final year engineering student, who in a bid to help a friend, gets the wrong bride kidnapped and ends up falling in love with her. And while Chandu is ready for anything, convincing Pooja’s family that he is her Mr Right is no easy task.
