THE BHOPAL Municipal Corporation (BMC) on Friday went for a special sanitation campaign — garbage removal, clearing stagnant water in basements and other possible sources of mosquito breeding. The corporation also carried out fogging operations and spraying of insecticides. The campaign was undertaken following rise in cases of diseases caused by mosquito.

Mayor Sunil Sood conducted a meeting of the corporation sanitation staff on Friday. He gave them directives for effective sanitation campaign and asked the officers to constantly monitor the operations.

Some 849 kg garbage were removed from various places in the City — specially in wards Nos. 2, 3, 4, 18, 19, 20, 28, 30, 50 and 51 — using 51 vehicles that made 105 trips in all. Water was cleared from basements of 11 high rise buildings.
