Cast: Sanjay Dutt, Ameesha Patel, Manoj Pahwa, Gulshan Grover

Director: Anubhav Sinha

Storyline: It’s a story about a helpless father, whose son has a heart problem. The story revolves around a factory worker, Ravi Rajput (Sanjay Dutt), his wife, a middle-class homely girl, Sarita (Ameesha Patel) and their son. Ravi earns a measly Rs 5,000 a month but like any other father, he dotes on his son. He has held him when he took his first steps and cried the first time his son smiled at him.

But things fall apart for the family, when one day their healthy eight-year-old son collapses while playing cricket. He needs a heart transplant and Ravi has to arrange for a good sum of money to save his son’s life.

To make matters worse, his son is not responding to medication. Ravi first tries to do things the right way by seeking help from his office, an insurance company and even goes to the loan sharks, but none of them responds to his pleas for help. A desperate Ravi grabs a gun and takes the system by the horns to get his son a new heart. He then holds up people in the hospital waiting room hostage and spells out his conditions. But can a father beat the system by taking to the gun. Ravi is just a common man but the system had not bargained for how much he loved his son and to what lengths he could go to save him. Besides it’s not everyday that a factory worker has to raise lakhs of rupees to save his son’s life. Ravi, just finds himself in an extra-ordinary situation.

The police try to talk him out of it. But when they fail, they get down to some dirty tricks. But this father is determined. His wife, a doctor, a cop and ordinary people join his battle. But there is one question that is nagging people — what if they found themselves in a similar situation. It had happened to Ravi, and he was not asking questions but giving answers.

But things get complicated, with the politicians getting involved too. Then the media’s penchant for sensationalism doesn’t help either. Ravi was only a father who wanted a new heart for his dying son. He was a simple man asking for help. But when everyone turned him down, things changed. And he made his own decision.

USP: The film is a Sanjay Dutt starrer.
