Saradha scam: Actor Mithun questioned by ED

The actor was questioned for more than two hours at the ED office at Nariman Point.
Chakraborty was the brand ambassador for the Saradha Group. The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) is investigating the scam that allegedly involved several bigwigs from the ruling party in West Bengal.
The scam had hit headlines in April 2013.
It went down with lakhs of depositors, mostly from the middle, l ower middle class and the economically backward class, and sunk thousands of crores of rupees. The Supreme Court had directed a CBI investigation into the matter in early May.
According to ED officials, Saradha had allegedly sponsored a few overseas trips that the actor had made and the agency had summoned Chakraborty to know the mode of payment for the service.
ED officials said that Chakraborty could not be questioned earlier as he was busy shooting abroad. However, he had reportedly submitted some documents to the agency.
