Before the start of ODI series between India and West Indies, no body would have imagined that among the galaxy of stars, mostly Indians, one Ramnaresh Sarwan would play the most significant part in the outcome of the series. After Team India had made a winning start, Sarwan, ably supported by Bravo, turned the series on its head.

Sarwan has aggregated 814 runs at an average of 74 with one hundred and six fifties in 17 games against India at the end of the series. With this performance, Sarwan has achieved top place among the batsmen with highest career average against India displacing South Africa’s Gary Kirsten to the second position.

The accompanying table list the batsmen with highest career average against India. Pakistan's Rashid Latif is a surprise entry in this elite list as he benefited immensely from four not out innings out of the seven he played against India.
