Scheduled caste and Scheduled tribe Joint Samithi, consisting of around 32 various sc and st organisations,would take 'independent political stand' in the forthcoming civic polls in the state.

Speaking to mediapersons here on Thursday, Punnala Sreekumar, General Convenor of the Samithi, said that the samithi had taken an anti-left front stand in the last parliament elections.

The forthcoming civic poll is significant in various respects, he said, adding the samithi's decision was considering the development projects adopted by both the UDF and LDF.

C K Janu, Chairperson, Adivasi Gothramahasabha, E P Kumaradas, Convenor, Adhijanamahasabha and K R Kelappan, President, Aikyasambhava Sabha, were also present at the press meet.
