A special court trying the multi-crore fodder scam on Monday allowed Railway Minister and RJD supremo Lalu Prasad to go abroad on a 15-day tour as the leader of an Indian Railways' delegation.
Designated CBI judge Munilal Paswan accepted the prayer of Prasad seeking permission to visit France, Germany, Britain and Italy between June 23 and July 8 to study measures for modernisation and expansion of railways and implement steps for making the railways 'more consumer-friendly'.
Earlier, a CBI court in Ranchi had released his passport on a similar prayer made for getting its nod for the foreign trip.
While granting him bail in several cases of the scam, including the one related to the disproportionate assets, the courts had asked him to deposit his passport and go abroad only after seeking its permission.
